The Oakland Police Department is participating in the 2010 Children's Hospital St. Baldrick's Event fundraiser. Oakland PD wants to make a difference for children with cancer. The kids who battle this disease are heroes to us, so this Friday, 12Mar10, we are shaving our heads to show them that they are not alone. The Oakland PD team goal was to raise $5000. As of today our team has raised over $8,000 thanks to all of you who have already generously donated! The event's goal is to raise $100,000. As of today the event has raised almost $87,000! Our team wants to help meet the event goal, so if you haven’t given please give a little or a lot, everything makes a difference. The St Baldrick's Foundation, a Better Business Bureau accredited charity, sponsors the world's largest volunteer-driven fundraising program for childhood cancer. In nine years, events have taken place in 18 countries and 48 US states, raising over $50 million, and shaving more than 72,000 heads!
On March 12, 2010 Zachary (my son who is participating of his own free will with no parental coercion) and I are participating in the Hero to Hero fundraising event through the Oakland Police Department and with Children's Hospital Oakland. Zach and I are going to have our heads shaved in solidarity with children suffering from cancer. Our goal is to raise at least $1000 each; however we would love to exceed our goals! In these tough economic times anything you can do will make a difference. Please give a little or a lot.
